Corel signs Linux deal

Corel has introduced a partnership agreement with Linux Technology to provide a form of its Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux Suite in Internet home appliances.

Linux Technology helps make the Solution Box and also the Office/Residential Gateway, two Internet appliance items. The Solutions Box, or S Box, could be operated like a stand-alone system as the Office/Residential Gateway requires networking support. Both of them are suitable for multiple platforms.

Underneath the deal, Corel will create a United States form of Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux, that’ll be bundled with each and every British form of Linux Technology’s home appliances.

Dr Ching Yung, ceo at Linux Technology, stated: “We believe Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux has been doing well using the Internet home appliances so we have previously begun testing WordPerfect Office 2000 for Linux on the new chipset. The outcomes happen to be outstanding.”
